Britains Best Guides
A full website redesign to modernise and streamline the tour booking experience.

Overview
Britain's Best Guides is a UK tour operator offering bespoke guided tours across the country through a network of highly reputable guides. Revo was approached to completely redesign and restructure their existing website with the goal of increasing traffic and driving more bookings. I led the project end to end as the main designer — handling everything from initial research through to final designs — working closely with the project manager and attending all client calls throughout.

The Challenge
The existing site was heavily outdated and difficult to navigate — while it was functional, finding and booking a guide wasn't a straightforward process. The brief was to modernise the site and streamline the booking journey, reducing the number of unnecessary pages and consolidating information to create a cleaner, more intuitive experience. A key consideration was Jakob's Law — users find platforms easier to use when they behave similarly to ones they already know — so the challenge was making BBG feel fresh and on brand while following the established conventions of major tour and activity booking platforms. An additional layer of complexity came from the booking functionality being handled through a third party platform integrated within WordPress, which meant constantly cross referencing what information the system could pull through and working closely with the developer to ensure the designs were always achievable within those constraints.
The Solution
The project began with in depth research into competitor booking and travel sites to understand the patterns and conventions that make them work. This was an important stage — it became clear that most successful booking platforms follow similar structures for good reason, and this directly informed every design decision that followed. A detailed sitemap was produced upfront to give both myself and the client a clear picture of the page structure before any design work began. The design itself focused on making the booking journey as simple as possible — from the homepage through to the navigation — with more informational pages kept intentionally clean and minimal. A considered approach to reusing blocks across the site kept the design consistent throughout while also reducing the development workload significantly.

The Result
The design stage is complete and has been fully prototyped to demonstrate the user flow to the client, showing how a user moves through the site from landing page through to booking. The research and planning investment at the start made the design phase itself surprisingly straightforward — having clear reasoning behind every decision meant fewer revisions and a more focused process. The project is currently with the client ahead of moving into development.
